So that idea I had, about how maybe making a commitment to produce a story for someone would help me get back to writing again? Well, it sort of worked.

noukran and tryogeru both recognized tryptophan and asked for an HP story (Snape and Snupin, respectively). I haven't heard Snape or Lupin in my head for a very long time now, but I started thinking that maybe I could finish the Snupin I had in progress when DH came out. Only somehow, thinking about Snape led to thinking about how Rush from SGU both is and isn't similar to Snape, and suddenly Rush had Things To Say. So now I appear to have written a vignette no one requested for a show I'm not at all certain I even like. Oh, brain...

Not to worry, tryogeru, noukran, and inkgeist: I haven't given up on getting Snape and Lupin talking again.

Well, we're (obviously) back, but we're busy as one-armed paper hangers. Running snapelyholidays is fun, but hectic and there is the upcoming holiday prep and all. I'm just glad my lungs have improved enough to allow me to do more things, although the weather change has made my joints freeze up, and sometimes that's literally. Silly things.

Anyway, no time for more now, maybe more later. Hope everyone is warm, happy and as healthy as can be.

Oh, and an fyi for those who have us on their holiday card list - please use our po box addy! Our home delivery is spotty at best and goes missing gets stolen at worst. *sigh*

THE FANFICTION LOVE MEME

This morning I woke from a very involved dream about making cookies. Lots of kinds of cookies, with chocolate and nuts and drop cookies and bar cookies and vanilla and mint and mmmm, but most especially this variant on sugar cookies with this frosting that was magically shape-able like fondant, only didn't taste godawful and also was soft and yummy.

Also in the dream, at one point I was repeatedly following Gwen out of Camelot and losing her at some sort of weird hidden path that went on the side of the boulder that didn't exist; I would come back and 1. make more cookies, and 2. listen to additional/ongoing discussion on the importance of calling in the right people to resolve the problem when there are unusual incidents at work (with worksheets and group activities and all the other trappings of an all-day training on something lame), and then follow her again (and lose her again), and so on.

Then, more cookies.

I cannot tell you how sad I was to find no cookies whatsoever in my kitchen on getting up. The lecture on public-safety calls I was okay not to find underway, but. Cookies! I can practically taste them, and yet, they are not here. Also not here: Camelot. *wail*

Narcissa had poured two cups of tea by the time Andromeda returned from checking on Teddy. Andromeda gestured at the sugar bowl, which obediently added two spoonfuls to her cup.

"I'm not surprised about Severus. I remember that affair he had with Evan Rosier," said Narcissa as Andromeda took her first sip. "Your son-in-law being queer, though - "

"He was always, Cissy. I tried to warn Dora, but she kept saying that seasons always change and life will find a way, some nonsense like that." Andromeda shook her head. "He did his best, but he never truly loved her."
